Mitchellville, MD – Organizers of the Legacy Fine Art Show are excited. With a little less than two months to go, they already have an extensive waiting list of artists and art gallery owners wanting to exhibit at the Legacy Fine Art Show, now in its sophomore year. The Legacy Fine Art Show will take place at the Camelot of Upper Marlboro, on the grounds of Evangel Church, located at 13901 Central Avenue in Upper Marlboro, MD on October 20, 21, and 22. Show hours are 11 am to 7 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday.

"I have been in this business since the 1970's, and have done art shows all over the country," says California artist Charles Bibbs. "I was very impressed with the production of the Legacy Show, and can't wait to return" Bibbs said. The many collectors that made it out to the first show have also echoed these sentiments. "It was so refreshing to have a fine art show of this caliber right in my own back yard," says Dr. Bolivia Davis, a resident of Mitchellville, MD and long time art collector.

Show organizers, Lauren Ishmael of Maryland based Powerhouse Consultants and Walter Shannon, of Louisville, KY based E&S Art Gallery, had a goal of bringing an African American fine art show to the Maryland/DC area. According to Ishmael "We could not be more pleased with the success of the first show and look forward to this year's show, I am very proud of what this says about Prince Georges County." Shannon adds, "Some of my most art savvy clients live in the DC/Maryland area, and I'm excited to produce a first rate art show that attracts the nations top African American artists and galleries."

The Legacy show is designed to provide fine art collectors from the Mid- Atlantic area an upscale venue in which attendees can learn about collecting and appreciating African American fine art, meet artists, and purchase fine art paintings, sculpture, and prints. The show will again feature nationally acclaimed artists Charles Bibbs, of Moreno Valley, CA, Woodrow Nash of Akron, OH, Jerry & Terry Lynn of Memphis, TN, and many others. The show will also feature art by such African American master artists as Elizabeth Catlett, Jacob Lawrence, John Biggers, and others. The $10 admission price (payable at the door) includes a variety of workshops and lectures on how to collect, maintain, and protect an art collection. Presenters include Alvah Beander, owner of Melanin Art Appraisals, LLC and Mr. Dennis Forbes Author and publisher of the book Collecting Limited Edition Prints: Contemporary African American Printmakers.
